Summer engagement photoshoot in Basingstoke, Hampshire
As I’m a Hampshire Engagement Photographer, I love nothing more than a photoshoot on a warm, summer evening. What better day, therefore, to shoot a summer sunset engagement session than the hottest of the year?! Not only was 31st July the hottest day of 2020, but it was also the third hottest day on record – ever! And you’d better believe that this couple’s shoot was just as sizzling as the heatwave!
Ashlee and Craig described their vision of ‘a countryside engagement shoot at sunset’. Straightaway, I knew exactly where I’d take them! Old Basing, on the outskirts of Basingstoke, Hampshire, is a beautiful village with a rustic feel. We headed to a secluded field with waist-high golden grass – and an oh so perfect view of the sunset, naturally.
Not long after we met, stormy skies rolled in and we were gifted five glorious minutes of the most dramatic background. The dark and moody sky coupled with the golden grass was truly breath-taking. Ashlee and Craig strolled through the countryside, lazed in the grass and fooled around in the classic red phone box. I was in my element capturing their perfectly relaxed portraits.
Stormy skies and sunset vibes
The stormy skies passed as quickly as they’d arrived. Within no time we were greeted by the sight we’d been waiting for – a spectacular summer sunset. The deep golden hues from those last rays of the sunlight flooded the scene. It was undoubtedly the perfect backdrop for some romantic, flirtatious portraits.
COVID-19 unfortunately meant that Ashlee and Craig had to postpone their August 2020 wedding. They have now set their sights on a Spring wedding in 2022. I wish them all the best.
