Summer engagement photoshoot in Basingstoke, Hampshire
As a Hampshire Engagement Photographer, I love nothing more than a pre-wedding shoot on a warm, summer’s day.
On this particular afternoon, I met up with Courtney and James for their engagement shoot – and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. We found a quiet little spot by a pond, tucked away just outside of Basingstoke. We were even greeted by a family of swans who wanted to join us for the action!

The whole vibe of the engagement shoot was super relaxed. Courtney and James were so natural together. They were laughing, chatting and just enjoying each other’s company while I gave them relaxed and natural prompts. It didn’t feel like a photoshoot at all, more like a laid-back walk with lots of sweet moments in between.
We wandered along the edge of the water, stopped on the bridge to watch the swans and found little patches of long grass. The afternoon light was soft and dreamy – so perfect for capturing those romantic, quiet moments.

What I love most about shoots like this is how real they feel. Nothing staged, nothing too posed—just two people in love, being themselves. It’s the perfect rehearsal to the big day. An engagement shoot allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera in a quiet, relaxed setting. It makes the wedding day feel so much easier as you’ve done it once before!
Courtney and James, thank you for such a lovely afternoon and for being so easygoing and fun to photograph. I’m already excited for your wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire – it’s going to be so special!
