Wedding Photography at Lainston House in Winchester
When Leanne and Richard first told me about their plans for a summertime wedding with a relaxed Irish vibe and an owl as the ring bearer, of course I couldn’t wait to get involved! As a Winchester wedding photographer Lainston House is a venue I love to work at, so I was all in for their big day.
On the morning of the wedding I met Leanne in Lainston House’s bridal suite where she was getting ready surrounded by her family and bridesmaids. Of course champagne was popped and glasses were clinked. After being helped into her dress by her bridesmaids, Leanne revealed her bridal look to her Dad. It was a particularly lovely moment and very touching to witness.
A feathered wedding ceremony surprise
A classic vintage car took Leanne and her bridal party to St Mary’s Church in Twyford, Winchester. Her Father was every bit the proud parent as he walked Leanne down the aisle. Leanne had organised a surprise for her groom – an owl who flew the rings down the aisle! I’ve seen a few dogs as ring bearers but an owl was definitely a first for me!
Following the ceremony we took a stroll around the beautiful grounds of the church to capture some portraits. St Mary’s is particularly special to Richard, so this was a lovely opporuntity for the couple to have a quiet moment together as husband and wife.
Next it was back to Lainston House in Winchester for their reception. The couple chose an elegant neutral and sage green colour theme across their florals, décor and bridesmaid dresses. It was a theme which perfectly complimented their summertime wedding.
A grand Winchester wedding setting
Lainston House itself has an inescapable grandeur about it. The majestic entrance makes for a stunning backdrop for portraits. We even brought out sunglasses and drinks for some photos with a more relaxed, cool vibe during the afternoon! The perfect aethetic for this fun-loving couple!
As the sun set we made the most of the romantic wildflower garden with some dreamy, haze-filled photos. Despite it being mid-August, the trees treated us to a display of autumnal colours thanks to the long hot summer.
Let’s party – Irish wedding style!
It was then into full party mode! Leanne is Irish so there was absolutely no surprise that it was the wildest dancefloor I’ve seen all year. They certainly know how to party!
All in all, I felt truly honoured to play a small role in such an amazing day. I wish Leanne and Richard all the best for a long and happy marriage together – and an amazing honeymoon in St Lucia!
