Silchester Farm Wedding Photographer – Emily & Mathew

As a regular Silchester Farm wedding photographer, I’m delighted that Emily and Mathew’s beautiful day was featured on Love My Dress.

Wedding Photography at Silchester Farm, near Basingstoke

Silchester Farm is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues! Located in the historic village of Silchester in the North Hampshire countryside just outside Basingstoke, the farm has a modern yet authentically rustic feel that is really special. Wild meadows combined with landscaped gardens, original farm buildings but with beautifully modern interiors. This wedding venue certainly is a photographer’s dream!

A relaxed wedding morning at Silchester

So, of course, when Emily and Mathew asked me to capture their big day at Silchester Farm, I jumped at the chance to head back to the venue! I first met Emily and Mathew in 2021 for their autumnal engagement shoot and we clicked straightaway, so I was so excited when their big day finally arrived!

I met Emily during the wedding morning at Silchester Farm’s cottage where she was getting ready with her Mum and four bridesmaids. The ladies were happily sipping champagne in their matching pjs – Emily in white, her Mum in green and the bridesmaids in black. They were a vision of elegance; a theme that undoubtedly continued throughout the day.

And the bridesmaids wore…white!

Emily and Mathew’s centred their wedding around a black and white theme. Black tie attire for the groomsparty, stunning neutral florals in the décor, and incredible white beaded gowns for the bridesmaids. A bridal party look that I can’t get enough of! I’m so obsessed with those bridesmaid portraits!

A bespoke wedding gown fit for a princess

The bride wore a bespoke Suzanne Neville gown, a design now named ‘the Emily’ after the bride herself. And what a showstopper it was. Emily looked every bit the princess, especially as she complemented her wedding dress with an incredible double veil, dazzling headpiece and delicate pearl jewellery. Her shoes were Emmy London, no less, and personalised with the couple’s initials, birthstones and wedding date. It certainly didn’t go unnoticed how much effort and thought the couple had put into their day.

A confetti snowstorm

The mid-August wedding day was certainly a scorcher! As the mercury soared to 34 degrees, the couple enjoyed a sun-soaked drinks reception and the most incredible confetti line I’ve seen to date. It was like being in a blizzard! Have a look at those photos – that’s the reason I always recommend big, white confetti to my couples! Perfection!

It was then on to Silchester Farm’s Cow Shed for the speeches, wedding breakfast and party. Throughout the day the couple treated their guests to a live artist sketching portraits, a saxophonist, a pianist, a band, and a DJ! Emily and Mathew certainly know how to entertain!

Before the first dance, however, I stole the couple away alongside their bridal party for some amazing golden hour portraits. The venue’s sheep field is perfectly positioned to capture that amazing glow as the sun goes down in the background. The bridal party’s white dresses looked unquestionably incredible against Silchester’s golden meadows.

Emily and Mathew’s day was without a doubt one that I’ll fondly look back on for a very long time. I wish you both an amazing honeymoon! As for Silchester, of course there’s a special place in my heart for you too! I can’t wait to head back to this wonderful venue very soon.
