As a Sant Ffraed House wedding photographer, I knew that Danielle and Leon’s summertime wedding day was going to be amazing. Some weddings are elegant. Others are full of energy. However, every so often, a couple manages to bring both at once. Danielle and Leon’s wedding at Sant Ffraed House was exactly that kind of day. The styling was sharp. The setting was stunning. And the energy never dropped, not for a single minute.
A Hot Wedding Day in South Wales
Danielle and Leon married in July, on a hot, sunny summer’s day. Naturally, the light was gorgeous all day long, which made for some truly striking couple’s portraits.
Sant Ffraed House sits within acres of Welsh countryside, and it shows in every direction you look. Meanwhile, the lake and surrounding floral gardens gave us the perfect outdoor backdrop for the ceremony. Danielle and Leon said their vows overlooking the water, with soft summer light and greenery all around them. It’s a setting that photographs beautifully, and one I’d happily return to again and again.
Afterwards, we made the most of the grounds for couple’s portraits. Every corner of Sant Ffraed House offers something different, from manicured lawns to quiet garden paths. Therefore, we had endless options for creating elegant, editorial-style images that felt true to the day.
Monochrome Styling, Done Beautifully at Sant Ffraed House
If one word summed up this wedding, it would be stylish. Danielle and Leon chose a monochrome colour palette throughout, and it gave the whole day a cohesive, elevated feel which looked so incredible in their wedding photography.
Black tie suits for the men and bridesmaid dresses for the ladies. Black accents woven through the flowers and finer details. Meanwhile, hydrangeas added texture and softness against all that black and white, striking a lovely balance between structure and romance.
This kind of styling is a joy to photograph. The contrast is bold, yet the overall feel stays timeless and elegant rather than harsh. Consequently, every image from the day has that polished, editorial quality that black tie weddings do so well.
Danielle also chose to change outfits for the evening, as did Leon. Both looked incredible in their second looks, and the transition gave the evening a completely different energy. It’s a lovely touch for any couple considering it. Not only does it refresh the day, but it also gives your photographer two entirely different styles to capture.
Editorial Wedding Photography in the UK
For Danielle and Leon’s wedding, I shot digitally throughout the day, along with drone photography to capture the scale and beauty of the grounds. Sant Ffraed House lends itself so well to aerial shots, particularly with the lake and gardens laid out below.
