Timeless, romantic wedding photography at Hengrave Hall
As a Hengrave Hall wedding photographer, there certainly aren’t many UK wedding venues that create a more impressive and romantic setting for a wedding day. It was no wonder then that Francesca and Marc knew it was the ideal wedding venue for them!
Combined with a ceremony at the striking St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Hengrave Hall really did complement the couple’s fairytale wedding day so perfectly.
Nestled in the heart of Suffolk and surrounded by unspoiled views of the countryside, Hengrave Hall’s 350-acre private estate creates an unrivalled timeless romance. The luxury 16th century manor house boasts immaculate, colourful gardens, an orchard and even its own church. Its historic interior features are well preserved and there is undoubtedly no shortage of elegant spaces for getting ready, the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. It is really a pleasure to photograph weddings at Hengrave Hall.
A summertime scorcher in the Suffolk countryside
Francesca, Marc and their closest friends and family spent a relaxed morning getting ready at Hengrave Hall. The majestic bridal suite made the most incredible background for Francesca’s morning, while Marc spent his time in the dedicated ‘boys’ room’ just down the hallway.
As they got ready, the weather was really hotting up. It quickly became the most beautiful English summer’s day! Despite weeks and weeks of unpredictable weather, the summer wedding day delivered the best of the English weather. It was undeniably a perfect complement to the fairytale, timeless wedding day at Hengrave Hall.
An impressive wedding ceremony at St Edmundsbury Cathedral
Hosted in the grand surroundings of St Edmundsbury Cathedral, the wedding ceremony saw Francesca and Marc exchange vows alongside their nearest and dearest. They then departed in a classic vintage car to make their way back to Hengrave Hall for the rest of their celebrations.
The newlyweds made their confetti entrance through the iconic arched front doorway onto the impressive front lawn. The afternoon reception then brought mingling, chatting and clinking of champagne glasses in Hengrave’s elegant, landscaped gardens. It truly felt like a quintessentially English summer’s wedding day in the heart of the Suffolk countryside.

The guests took their seats and enjoyed the wedding breakfast, followed by relaxed, entertaining speeches. As the softer evening light flooded in, Francesca, Marc and I took the opportunity to capture their couples’ portraits. The setting at Hengrave Hall really creates such an elegant and luxury feel in their wedding photos. As the dreamy light flooded the driveway the couple looked every bit the part – it was like stepping straight into a timeless fairytale!
During the evening Francesca had a surprise for her guests – and for her groom too! A dress change into a sparkly, slinky evening gown! She transformed from fairytale princess to Hollywood superstar and looked just breathtaking indeed.
Of course we made the most of the opportunity to capture a few fun after-dark flash photos of her in her evening gown. Flash photos give such an editorial look which I love! Did someone say Vogue?!
