A stylish black tie wedding at Cooling Castle Barn in Kent
As a Cooling Castle Barn photographer, I was so excited for Zoe and Frazer’s black tie wedding. During our planning meetings prior to the big day, they had told me that their vision was for a stylish, modern wedding with a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Oh boy they definitely achieved it!
The May wedding day gifted the couple a beautiful Spring day. After a pretty gloomy year so far, it felt as though spring had finally arrived! It was a warm, sunny morning at the Kent countryside barn wedding venue. Later in the afternoon it clouded over – a photographer’s dream! We love an overcast setting for your portraits as it creates the most beautifully flattering light.
A romantic, elegant and modern Kent wedding
The styling of their big day at Cooling Castle Barn was sophisticated, modern and romantic. Elegant florals in white and green adorned a showstopping real floral archway. Zoe had selected a stylish wedding bouquet of pure white roses. It was simple but oh so impactful, and probably one of my favourite bridal bouquets to date.
When it came to the rest of her bridal styling, Zoe knew exactly the look she wanted to achieve – sophisticated, modern and romantic. She had chosen an incredible gown with a detachable bow and extendable train. Zoe paired her look with spectacular Jimmy Choo heels and dainty, sentimental jewellery. She wore a necklace crafted from diamonds and sapphires passed down by loved ones – it was so special, and also her ‘something blue’. Zoe really looked every bit the princess.
The black tie wedding theme suited the gents perfectly. They looked very stylish and it complemented their elegant wedding day theme flawlessly. The black tie wedding vibe is so popular at the moment and one I will never tire of. It really looks so stylish on camera, and gives that editorial wedding photography feel that I love to capture in my work.
Fun vibes only! A wedding ceremony to remember at Cooling Castle Barn
Both Zoe and Frazer work in the performing arts (it’s actually how they met all those years ago as teenagers!). It wasn’t any surprise therefore that their guests knew exactly how to bring the good energy! Especially Zoe’s bridal party who were the ultimate hype team for their girl.
Having so many incredible performers as friends also created the most wonderful wedding ceremony at Cooling Castle Barn. Two of the couple’s friends performed four beautiful songs as they were signing their legal documents. My favourite was a version of Shania Twain’s ‘Still The One’. They had the whole room in tears – including the groom (and nearly me too!). It wasn’t any surprise as it really was one of the most emotion-provoking occasions I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing at a wedding.
Zoe and Frazer’s entire wedding day at Cooling Castle Barn in Kent was relaxed and stress-free. They incorporated so much fun into their plans, including a hyped-up, napkin-waving wedding breakfast entrance, a playful cake cut and a playful and an entertaining first dance. It was no wonder that their guests were all having the best time.
Editorial wedding photography straight out of Vogue
As the evening continued we escaped the dancefloor for a few minutes to capture some after-dark flash wedding photos. These are becoming so popular with my wedding couples and I couldn’t be happier about it! They really give such a cool and stylish air, and are a totally different look and feel to your romantic daytime wedding photos. Zoe and Frazer looked like they could be straight out of the pages of Vogue magazine with these editorial wedding photos. I especially love them in black and white – so chic!
We rounded off the day with a flash champagne spray (my fave!) before saying our goodbyes. I headed home feeling on cloud nine. It had really been such a wonderful day for Zoe and Frazer and I felt so lucky to have been the one to capture their wedding photography.
