When Ani first told me about their wedding story, I thought I was looking in a mirror. As a Basingstoke Registry Office photographer, I’ve learnt that every couple’s story is different. But theirs was so similar to my own that I had to do a double take!
Ani and Shane, like so many couples, had had their wedding plans scuppered by COVID. Not able to have the big day that they dreamed of, they decided to just go for it and say their ‘I dos’ in an intimate ceremony at Basingstoke Registry Office. Just as Andy and I had done a month earlier!
An intimate ceremony at Basingstoke Registry Office
Despite it not being plan A (or maybe even plan B or C!) their ceremony at the Registry Office was no less special. Joined by only a handful of their nearest family members, Ani and Shane made their vows to each other. If anything, the circumstances of their marriage made it even more meaningful. The pandemic had prevented them from having the day they’d initially wanted, but they found a way to solidify their commitment anyway. That is what love is about.
What made it even more special is that the couple are expecting their first child! Ani is six months pregnant – and doesn’t she look fabulous! Their daughter will make an appearance in October – just weeks before our own baby is due to arrive! Can you see now why I thought our stories were scarily similar?!
They put a (very special!) ring on it
Ani and Shane’s rings deserve a special mention. Many couples choose to have their rings engraved, but I’ve never seen any like theirs! Whilst Ani opted for a traditional engraving, Shane decided he wanted to make his a little more unique with some choice wording!
Following the ceremony we took a stroll around the nearby War Memorial Park, before heading to a nearby beauty spot for more portraits. We were even joined by a family of swans who wanted to join in the celebrations!
The couple ended their celebrations with a small family dinner at Oakley Hall. Ani and Shane are moving to Ani’s native Germany in August, where they’ll plan the ‘big’ big day for summer 2022.
I wish Ani, Shane and the bump all the love and happiness in the world as they embark on their next adventure.
